Pricing defaults

These values seed every new estimate this shop creates. Each estimate snapshots them at create time, so changing them here only affects future estimates — existing estimates keep the rates they were written with.

Defaults applied to new estimates

Default labor rate
$ / hour
Charged on every labor line. Per-tech multipliers (set on Bays & Schedule) still apply on top of this rate.
Default parts markup
%
Pre-fills the Markup field on every new parts line. Per-line overrides on the RO are always allowed.
Labor billing basis Default for new labor lines. With the labor clock on, every line can still be flipped between estimated and actual right on the RO.
Parts / sales-tax rate
%
Applied to taxable parts / other lines. Tax-exempt customers are never charged regardless of this rate.
Labor tax rate
%
Blank = same as parts. Enter 0 if your state doesn't tax labor.
Shop supplies
$ flat + % of labor
Flat fee and/or a percent of labor — they add together (e.g. "$5 + 2%"). Covers rags, gloves, consumables. All 0 = disabled.
Supplies cap & EPA fee
cap$ ·  EPA$
Cap = max the supplies fee can reach (0 = no cap). EPA = flat environmental / disposal fee added per RO (0 = none).
Worked example

Parts-markup tiers

Optional cost-based markup matrix — cheaper parts can carry a higher markup than expensive ones. A part's cost picks the first band it falls under; if no tiers are set, the flat default markup above applies to every part.

Additional labor rates

The default labor rate above is your standard rate. Add named rates here (Diagnostic, Electrical, Mobile, Fleet…) and techs pick one per labor line on the RO.

Owner-only. Audit-logged. Changes apply to new estimates only — existing estimates keep the snapshot they were written with.
